2006-2010 Lexus ES-350

The Lexus ES-350 has been at the middle of the massive, 8.5 million-vehicle Toyota recall since the beginning. In many ways, the Toyota recall was started because of an ES-350. In December of 2009, an off-duty police officer and three passengers were riding in a Lexus ES-350 in San Diego when the vehicle began to suddenly and uncontrollably accelerate. The officer tried to stop the vehicle, but was unable to. The four victims’ last moments were captured on a frantic emergency call to 9-1-1. The story made national news and led to the first of a wave of recalls.

The Lexus sudden acceleration failure is a very serious design flaw which has led to thousands of complaints, hundreds of injuries, and nearly 40 deaths since 2002. Thousands of people have been affected by these terrible accidents, caused by cars which had a reputation for reliability and safety.

The Lexus ES-350

The Lexus ES-350 has been the single most popular Lexus sedan in the United States for the last 15 years. It embodies the Lexus selling point – affordable luxury centered on a comfortable ride and technological features. The car is built on a Toyota Camry chassis and derives its power from a V6 engine.

The vehicle was first produced in 1989, and the company has sold more than 600,000 in the United States. Before this model became mired in controversy, it won a number of awards for quality and value.

Sudden Acceleration

Since the Toyota and Lexus sudden acceleration failure first became well-known three months ago, the Toyota Motor Corporation has issued recalls for close to 9 million vehicles. This was the first widespread recall to correct the problem, despite the fact that the company had been receiving complaints since at least 2002.

The US Government recently subpoenaed Toyota for documents related to the recall and found a presentation that was released within the company, boasting that a limited recall of Toyota vehicles for sudden acceleration problems saved the company $100 million. This suggests that the company was well aware of the problem and tried to avoid a massive recall that could have saved lives.

If you or someone you love has been injured or worse as the result of a Lexus sudden acceleration accident, you may be entitled to seek financial compensation. If you or your family has suffered because of the actions of the Toyota Motor Corporation, you deserve to be compensated accordingly.
