2006-2010 Lexus IS-350

Since the first wave of recalls began in late 2009, the Toyota Motor Corporation has recalled a total of nearly 9 million vehicles that suffer from a potentially fatal acceleration failure. The Lexus IS-350 and seven other models have been recalled because of a flaw that can potentially cause the vehicle to uncontrollably accelerate without warning.

Over the past decade, Toyota has received thousands of complaints about the acceleration error, but has done little to correct the issue. As a result, hundreds of people have been injured and nearly 40 have been killed.

Toyota and Lexus uncontrollable acceleration accidents have affected thousands of lives. Hundreds of people have been seriously injured, and dozens of families have lost a loved one. The victims and their families of these terrible accidents deserve compensation for their injuries and losses.

Lexus IS-350

The Lexus IS-350 is part of Lexus’ flagship line of entry-level luxury sedans. Equipped with a powerful V6 engine, the car is tremendously popular in the United States. Since being introduced in 1999, the company has sold more than a quarter of a million units.

The IS-350, which comes standard with a 3.5 liter V6 engine, has won a number of awards from prestigious publications for its reliability and quality. However, recent revelations have suggested that the vehicle may suffer from a potentially fatal flaw.

Sudden Acceleration

Since 2002, the Toyota Motor Corporation has received over 2,000 complaints about Toyota and Lexus cars accelerating suddenly and without warning. Over 200 people have been injured as a result of the accidents, and at least 39 people have been killed in accidents linked to sudden acceleration.

The Lexus sudden acceleration error first got national press when an off-duty police officer and three other passengers were killed in San Diego in December of 2009 when a Lexus they were riding in suddenly accelerated. Their last moments were recorded on a tragic 9-1-1 phone call.

Toyota initially claimed that the acceleration error was due to an ill-fitting floor mat that caused the pedal to become stuck. However, a Toyota company presentation indicated that the company knew the problem extended well beyond the floor mats, and mentioned a limited recall as a “big win,” saving the company $100 million.

If you have been injured in a Lexus uncontrollable acceleration accident, it’s your right to seek financial compensation for your injuries. No one should have to pay for an accident that wasn’t their fault – and the sudden acceleration accidents are ultimately the fault of the Toyota Motor Corporation.
