2007-2010 Toyota Camry

The Toyota Camry is one of the most popular cars in the world. In the United States alone, about 400,000 Camrys are sold every year. Unfortunately, the Camry is one of the eight different Toyota and Lexus models being recalled because of a terrible design flaw that could result in sudden and uncontrollable acceleration that can result in injury or even death.

The Toyota Motor Corporation has issued a series of recalls, affecting a total of nearly 9 million vehicles, all of which may be affected by the uncontrollable acceleration problem. The recall is the biggest in Toyota history, and is one of the largest in the history of automotive recalls. While many Americans are confused over the nature of the recalls, it is important to realize that they were issued to address a problem that has killed nearly 40 people and injured hundreds more.

If you or someone you love has been injured or worse in a Toyota Camry sudden acceleration accident, the Toyota uncontrollable acceleration attorneys of Habush Habush & Rottier, S.C. may be able to help. Contact us today by calling 800-242-2874 to find out more about what we can do for you.

The Toyota Camry

The Toyota Camry is the best-selling car of the last decade. It regularly sells 400,000 units every year; between 2000 and 2009, it sold approximately 4,235,000 vehicles. Produced since 1980, the vehicle has been praised for its affordability and quality for the price.

Unfortunately, the large number of Camrys on the market means that literally millions of American drivers may be affected by the sudden acceleration problem. If you own a Toyota Camry made in the last 10 years, it may be beneficial to contact your local Toyota dealer and discuss your options.

Sudden Acceleration

While the recall has been in the news virtually non-stop since December of 2009, the sudden acceleration problem actually dates back several years. Since 2002, over 2,000 complaints have been made concerning the uncontrollable acceleration flaw, but Toyota has done little to correct the issue. A company presentation made in 2007 but recently subpoenaed by the US Government showed that Toyota was aware of the problem, but issued only a limited recall in order to save the $100 million a more comprehensive recall would have cost.

Injuries and deaths caused by the sudden acceleration problem are ultimately the fault of the Toyota Motor Corporation, which released a shoddy, dangerous product. If you or someone you love has been injured or worse as the result of a Toyota Camry sudden acceleration accident, you may be entitled to compensation. You shouldn’t have to pay for Toyota’s mistake.
