2007-2010 Toyota Tundra

The Toyota Tundra is a V8-powered full-size truck made by the Toyota Motor Corporation. Introduced in 2000, it won Motor Trend magazine’s Truck of the Year awards in both 2000 and 2008, and rapidly established itself as one of the most popular trucks sold in the United States.

Unfortunately, this popularity belies the fact that the Tundra suffers from a very serious design flaw that can cause serious injury and even death. The 2007-2010 Toyota Tundra is one of the eight Toyota and Lexus models affected by the enormous recall. Toyota has issued a series of sweeping recalls for a total of nearly 9 million cars and trucks because they may potentially accelerate suddenly and without warning.

Hundreds of Americans have been injured as a result of the Toyota sudden acceleration error, and nearly 40 have died. Thousands of people have seen their friends and families injured or killed as the result of the terrible design flaw. These injuries and deaths are ultimately the responsibility of the Toyota Motor Corporation, which released dangerous vehicles that put consumers at risk.

The Toyota Tundra

The Toyota Tundra is a full-size truck that was released in 2000 as a larger alternative to the Toyota T100 and Toyota Tacoma. The V8-powered Tundra is designed to appeal to the American market. A popular vehicle associated with quality and towing ability, the Tundra has sold at least 100,000 units annually since 2003. A total of about 1.2 million Tundras have been sold since 2000.

Sudden Acceleration

The first complaints of Toyota and Lexus vehicles suddenly and uncontrollably accelerating date back to 2002. Since then, approximately 2,000 complaints have been recorded, with at least 200 injuries and a total of 39 deaths. The issue has called into question Toyota’s reputation of producing high-quality, safe vehicles.

Toyota initially blamed the sudden acceleration problem on ill-fitting floor mats which caused the accelerator to become stuck. However, more evidence is beginning to suggest that the true fault lies in the electronic acceleration control. This theory is given credence by a recently revealed Toyota company presentation that noted a limited recall as saving the company the $100 million that a more wide-scale recall would have cost.

The Toyota Motor Corporation is ultimately responsible for all of the deaths and injuries caused by the sudden acceleration problems of its vehicles. If you are one of the thousands of Americans who has been affected by the potentially deadly sudden acceleration error, you may be entitled to financial compensation.
