2009-2010 Toyota Matrix

The Toyota Matrix was iantroduced in 2003 as a “sporty wagon” counterpart to the Toyota Corolla. The demand for small hatchbacks has been steadily increasing for years, and the Matrix was intended as a way for Toyota to tap into that market. The Corolla, one of Toyota’s flagship models one of the most popular cars in the world, was respected for years for its reliability and value.

This changed in late 2009, however, as Toyota initiated a vast wave of recalls over concerns that numerous Toyota models, including the Matrix and Corolla, may contain extremely dangerous manufacturing defects. As a result, hundreds of people have found themselves suddenly accelerating out of control, unable to steer their vehicles, or even unable to brake.

If you or someone you know has been injured because of an out-of-control Toyota, you may be entitled to compensation for your suffering and losses. To discuss your case with the compassionate Toyota sudden acceleration lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier, S.C., call us today at 800-242-2874.

Sudden Acceleration

Sudden Toyota acceleration has been associated with hundreds of injuries and dozens of deaths in the United States alone. Even though Toyota only began its recalls in late 2009 and early 2010, consumers have reported hundreds of sudden acceleration events over the past decade. The dangers these defects present to the public cannot be overstated. Anyone who has suffered because of a once-trustworthy automaker’s irresponsibility is entitled to seek justice.

Toyota’s initial explanation for this problem was that gas pedals were becoming stuck under floor mats, but since then other factors have come to light. Faulty throttle bodies—the mechanical assemblies connecting the gas pedal to the engine—are one potential cause. Whistleblowers within Toyota factories have claimed that, in order to cut costs, Toyota began buying their throttle bodies from a cheap, low-quality supplier. But cost-cutting should never come before the safety of innocent customers.
